In this intervention at the St. Augustine National Cemetery, I placed my sculpture—topped with a form resembling a child’s limb—amongst the official military headstones. My intention was to overlap the memory of innocent war victims with the memory of soldiers. By bringing these two 'monuments' into the same space, I am suggesting that they are all victims of a larger, greedy system. I am testing how a handmade, hollow object can act as a site of mourning for those whose stories are often erased from the official military landscape
